this was a commissioned piece. kat (one of my favorite humans) asked me to make it so she could give it to her boyfriend sal for valentine's day. she started a tradition a few years back that she asks a different friend each year to make something that is their own take on them as a couple. this is one of the few pieces i have made that involve human heads. also, they have a lot of cats.

and below is one of the very first stitched drawings i ever made. it is pretty large (about 3' x 3') and kat actually bought it before we really knew each other. i made it for it almost was not, the very first show i ever had, at the padlock gallery. that was december of 2006. because the person who was scheduled to have their show the following month backed out, they asked me to have part two of my show for january. so i did. because everything from the first show sold (insane) i made thirteen new pieces in one month (even more insane). unfortunately it was all such a whirlwind of unexpected everything that i do not have photographs of anything from those shows. but many of the pieces were purchased by folks who are either friends of mine or are somehow connected, so maybe someday i will track everything down and snap some photos to share.

  2. LOVE seeing your work! I can't believe the patience you must have to make these! I think it's really great to see the cross over in both of your bodies of work (bags and drawings) - I think when a person can work in in different ways it makes their pieces much stronger ;)

  4. Wow, your work is amazing! How do you get such detail? Is it all just free motion stitching? Your lines are so perfect. You are very talented.
